FFBT at Země živitelka 2026: science, studies and expert discussion on the future of the food industry

The Faculty of Food and Biochemical Technology of the University of Chemical Technology Prague participated in the 52nd annual Země živitelka, which took place from 20 to 25 August 2026 at the Expo in České Budějovice.
 
Země živitelka is one of the most important agricultural fairs in the Czech Republic and connects agriculture, food industry, science, research, education and other related fields.
 
FPBT presented itself in a joint exhibition with the FFDI Czech Republic. Visitors could learn about our study programs, scientific and research activities, opportunities for cooperation with industry and services offered by accredited laboratories and faculty centers.
However, it did not stop at the presentation. For example, those interested could try a test to recognize the freshness of eggs and participate in other educational activities focused on food quality and safety.
 
FPBT also actively participated in the expert accompanying program of the fair. On August 21, Doc. Marcela Sluková spoke at the conference "Packaging under the pressure of change" with a contribution Fruit products in bakery: quality, safety, packaging. The conference focused on current challenges in the field of food packaging, new legislative requirements and innovative packaging solutions.
Ing. Monika Tomaniová, Ph.D., then at the discussion seminar "Bioeconomy as an opportunity: cooperation between the agricultural and food sectors" presented the opportunities offered by EIT Food for cooperation and innovation in agriculture and the food industry. She focused, among other things, on the support of innovation and entrepreneurship, international partnerships, educational programs and opportunities for participation in EIT Food open calls. The seminar created a space for discussion on the development of the bioeconomy and the networking of research organizations, companies and other actors.
 
Participation in the Země živitelka was not only an opportunity to present the study and research at FPBT to the general public, but also a place for sharing professional knowledge, establishing cooperation and discussing current topics in the food industry.
