Academic Year 2026/2027 Information

• Winter semester: 14 September - 18 December 2026
• Winter examination period: 4 January - 12 February 2027
• Schedule and subject selection for the summer semester: 4 - 12 February 2027
• Summer semester enrollment: 4 - 19 February 2027
• Summer semester: 15 February - 21 May 2027
• Summer examination period: 24 May - 30 June 2027, 23 - 27 August 2027

Deadlines

• Submission of Bachelor's Theses: electronically via SIS and in printed form at the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology
  • by 2 June 2027 for the first FSE term
  • by 7 July 2027 for the second FSE term
• Verification of fulfilment of study requirements for all years of study by the Department of academic affairs (Dean's office) (upon request via SIS)
  • by 8 June 2027 for the first FSE term
  • by 8 July 2027 for the second FSE term
• 1st FSE term: 14 to 30 June 2027
• 2nd FSE term: 23 August to 3 September 2027

Bachelor's Thesis

• The faculty provides a Thesis Template, which can be found here along with a Guide to Writing Final Theses at FFBT. Please use the template and follow the instructions provided when writing your theses.
• Maximum length of a Bachelor's Thesis is 30 pages (from Introduction to Conclusion).
• A guide to submitting your thesis to SIS can be found here.
• Students have to submit one printed copy, either hardbound or softbound (spiral binding is not permitted) at the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology.

Final State Examination

• 1st Final State Examinations are taking place from 14 to 30 June 2027.
• 2nd Final State Examinations are taking place from 23 August to 3 September 2027
• The Chemistry and Technology - Biochemistry and Biotechnology (AB308A) Final State Exam Topic areas can be found in the document at the bottom of this page.
• You will find an invitation to your specific FSE date in SIS, in the "FSE (applications and invitation)" module in advance of the FSE date. The time, date, and committee are decided by the department where the FSE takes place.

Graduation Ceremony

• The graduation ceremonies of bachelor's and master's graduates take place in the Bethlehem Chapel.
• The bachelor's graduation ceremonies will take place on on 7 October 2026 at 9 AM. The graduates meet at 8 AM, in order to prepare for the ceremony.
